Apache sucks. I want Omniweb back. It didn't err out on dialup users.

Hmm... that does suck. Isn't there a setting I can change somewhere?

There's probably something in php.ini somewhere. However PHP is run server side. I don't think there's any way that Riso's dial-up connection is causing this. Perhaps JRs recent NWNing is causing occasion performance issues with background services??

Actually that's probably what happened.. I noticed NWN getting really choppy yesterday... logged out of NWN, quit a bunch of apps and went back in, all was fine.
Things will be really great once I upgrade this old clunker and creaker up to some better hardware. I was waiting until I got a full-time job with ILPS to do it, but I think I might do it sooner than that.

I know what riso is talking about. It's that 30 second execution time limit on the php pages. I don't know if it's an apache or php setting, but one of them kills the download if it takes you more than 30 seconds to download the page.
I know you tried to change it at one point, but there may be more than one place that it's specified.

Actually, I've been noticing some choppiness on my AMD2400+ with 512MB of RAM when I wander back into town. Not sure what the deal is there. Could be the server I suppose....

You know what would be cool? If the forum row you were hovering your mouse cursor over would highlight or raise itself slightly. Even just a subtle change in color. I would very much like that.

I wonder how hard this would be to hack in:
On the far right side, across from where the forum is displayed (i.e., directly across from "Pegasus3d.com Forum Index -> OSY"), have a drop-down menu with which you can access the different fora.
Yes, I'm lazy.

Nevermind that, I see the drop down menu at the bottom.

I want a medal for all the smaming I have done this morning. I want it made out of pure gold. I want people to drool over its impeccable irreproducible beauty. I want them to beg me for a chance to touch it....
Is that doable? |

The root directory of the forum is browsable ... I imagine someone could think of a way to hack it.
No idea why they would want to ...

Being able to browse a web folder by default has burn turned off in every Apache installation that I can remember. JR must have turned it on for some reason, or perhaps Apache windows installs with some different defaults or even asks during the install (can't remember, though I've used Apache Windows within the last year).

I like having directory browsing turned on, because I get lazy and sometimes I don't know the names of the files I like to inline or link directly to.
Most of the obvious PHPBB hacks (mainly the install scripts) have been deleted from the website. I'm sure there are other ways in, but I think you have to be actually smart to use them, which rules out any of my enemies...

At Dvixen's suggestion I have increased the size of the "jump to latest post in thread" icon.

The little icon to the right of the "last poster" name is 150% bigger now, and thus easier to hit at higher resolutions.

Heh, I'd never even noticed it at all, until I saw this post. Pretty neat little device, it is.
