I've seen you recommend some single-player NWN modules before. I've got all of the ones you recommended, though I haven't had time to play them yet. However, my girlfriend and I are planning to play some NWN together in the new year. Initially I was thinking we'd play through the single-player campaign together, but the single-player in the original game bored me so much that I stopped halfway through... and in any case I'd rather play something I haven't played before. Do the modules you like still work with two-player co-op? If not, do you know about any others we could try? Smile

Nwavult on IGN has lots of user-generated modules that are rated. If you stick with the Hall of Fame rated modules, you'll be in for a treat, there's some amazing stuff. I played though some series (that I can't remember the names of but I'm sure we discussed them) that were simply great.

You could also look around for a good NWN persistent world server. I played on a really good one and the experience is very much like an MMO, without the server load (NWN servers don't typically hold hundreds of people, and even if they do the modules are split across machines).

Tell your girlfriend I'd like her hand in marriage. Very Happy Dance!

I played through (some) of a series, I think it was called Shadowcatcher or some such. Can't get to the site now cuz it's blocked here at work Mad so I won't be able to give you the exact name. I think it was recommended by Mord, IIRC. Very Happy

Sadly I haven't been able to play any since teh new baby arrived. Would love to get into some miniMO games with fellow OSYers when NWN2 comes out. Smile

Yeah thats it...Shadowcatcher I think, and then there's a follow on series by the same author thats even BETTER.

By the way, and I'm sorry that this didn't occur to me earlier, but if anyone wants their characters from Mordock, I'll be happy to email them over. Just PM me and I'll get them out to you.

I'm not really holding my breath for NWN2. But with all the add-ons and extra stuff out there, I think its still possibly to have a lot of fun with NWN. And with its (not particularly native) capability to run as a PW, I think, like MUDs, NWN servers are here to stay.

I think I've got the series of modules you guys are talking about, but aren't they solo modules? Can you play them co-op?

They may be DESIGNED solo, but I'm pretty sure you can play any NWN module multi-player. I can't see how it would prevent you.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I remember a sequence flying on a dragon, and it might be in the series sequel to Shadowcatchers but I'm not sure, and I'm having trouble imagining how a second character would tag along. The scripting may not handle multiple characters and leave the others behind to either walk or be summoned somehow.

Hm. Maybe we'll try the included campaign (and/or expansions, which I also have) first, and see how it works in those, before testing co-op in custom modules.

I'll tell you now, at least on the official campaigns, decide in advance who'll do the talking, especially on story-related points. NWN allows multiplayer, but often handles it rather poorly.

Shadowlords
Dreamcatcher
Demon

They are three in a series by Adam Miller. You can play them co-op, in fact some puzzles in them actually make more sense when done co-op.

The series starts off good, turns to great in the middle and ends with fricking AMAZING.

I thought of that, but we'll have voice communication while playing, so it should be okay. Smile

Those are the ones!

I've already got them, so it would just be a matter of getting them for my girlfriend once I get her a copy of NWN. Smile

Oh, really? Perhaps it would be preferable to play the modules rather than the original campaign, then. Do you need the expansions to play them all?

I think the issue is more from the module scripting point of view. You'll want to make sure the same person that triggers a quest ends it. Basically one person should be doing all the quests, and the second is just grouped for XP and helping. But don't tell her that. Satan grin

No; the first two modules use the original tileset and the last one comes complete with it's own tileset, so no expansions are necessary.

I personally found the original campaign to be kind of long and dragging, whereas these modules are short (each is divided into four parts or so) and tightly packed full of goodness. However the ending of Hordes of the Underdark so completely ties together the plot set in motion from the original NWN campaign that it really deserves to be played.
