speaking ones mind while taking it lightly. Some of this should be adopted as reminders when we discuss 'taboo' subjects. Interestingly enough, I met this girl from Atlanta, where she lived in New York and Boston, and is now working in HK for a few months. Within an hour we were discussing US politics and bunch of other stuff and we stayed civil. Granted, alcohol does ease tensions (or sometimes increases it), but it was a good way to understand where we stood on some issues. Interesting stuff indeed.

I don't think an in-person conversation and a thread on a discussion forum can be compared. I think people are much more likely to fly off the handle on a discussion forum for many reasons.

Yeah, one of them being that they are sober when they post. Well, when we're not sober, we tend to post in the drunka thread. Maybe we should all plan a political thread party one day at a specific time, get pissed drunk, and post our thoughts and opinions. I'm a happy drunk, and will probably say stuff like, 'dood... you know wha? you maybeee a republican bhashstad, but I love you man! I dooo...'

I think we've managed to break the taboos a few times here at OSY, got into heated discussions and still remained friends, so that's something at least.

Been more than a few such threads where I pondered the possibility of beating sense into people as opposed to my efforts at talking it into them, but I still keep coming back here.

I think it's the couches, they're very comfy. Very Happy

Currently, my state of consciousness is almost entirely caffeine-fueled, so if the above made no sense, fear not. Later on, I'll be wondering what the hell I wrote too. Very Happy

Well, FredCPA1 in this thread reminds me of a certain someone who shall not be named. Good grief. Personally I find it hard to believe that a mac DVI card has anything different from a PC DVI card. Beyond refresh rates, which the mac, iirc defaults to 75hz(?) and windows defaults to 60hz (?) - and I'm so pulling this out of my ass - I don't know if there is anything specific Mac OS X or Windows can do to cause problems? Hardware wise the RAMDAC may be the issue, but, huh? Compared to the PC market where you can get a massive selection of OEM and generic video cards in a range of prices, I haven't heard PC users have problems. Or do they?
