To be specific, look at my new main monitor! BenQ FP951, 19 inches of DVI goodness...
From the manufacturer:
Quote: |
As poetry in motion, the FP951 was designed to echo the simplicity we all strive to achieve, as it comes together in our daily lives -- a balance of work and play. The BenQ FP951 offers an ultra-high 700:1 contrast ratio and Dual D-sub/DVI inputs for richly balanced color and clearly defined image quality that will soothe your eyes and bring the simple pleasures to your daily activities.
Enjoy a new sense of freedom compliments of the 170/170 viewing angle that allows you to clearly see your computer from almost any angle throughout the room. With BenQ A+ Panel Quality, you can rest knowing that your monitor will age gracefully as it retains the same clarity, and evenly distributed color saturation across the entire panel.
Imagine, beauty that doesn't fade... and a lifestyle that forever endures... Imagine an FP951 in your world. |
Gotta love asians

You can bet that contrast ratio is inflated -- many manufacturers do that, and some inflate the ratio by huge amounts, sometimes 40% or more.
I doubt the true figure is greater than 500:1
Nevertheless...
This is the monitor I want.

I have a 17" CRT too, but it's a generic piece of crap.

I just want an LCD at home! I wish I had money ... ... hell, I wish I hadn't any debt, that would fix things!

I want to get one of these in the near future:
SGI 1600SW. Old. I believe the first panel to be suitable for video work. You even get a colour lock sensor eye thingy, which is rare with LCDs.

Hehe, 12" Dell (nee Sony) Trinitron flat-screen shadow mask yada yada. Very purty and easy on the eyes.
Next to it on my desk is a NEC 15" LCD (can't recall the model# offhand) that I use on my 4-port KVM. Came from a *ahem* former employer who no longer exists. Has 3 dead pixels, but the main reason I kept it is cuz it has built-in speakers and a 4-port USB hub. Very handy when building machines.
