The external hard drive on my Mac Classic just carped out. This sucks! I had some good stuff on there. Like Word 5.1. Now where am I going to get a replacement copy?

In other news, OS X doesn't handle my floppy drive very well.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Sad

I lost a drive recently too. It was like bebebebebeep, and I was like "huh?"

Not really. It was more like whir - not-whir - whir - not-whir, and I was like !@%#^$%#@%&*!!!!!!

Was it a legit copy or warezed?

I havent tried to get mine working. I'll probably try to transplant my G3/G4 into an ATX case soon, and I had planned to leave the floppy behind.

I'm not really sure. My friend fond the Classic and an external 100MB drive somewhere at TCU (Texas Christian University). They were throwing it out so I got a Christmas present. I assume it was legit before I got my hands on it.

I'm able to boot of the ROM, but I can't get it to boot off a floppy. I think I'll have to replace the drive with a 40MB I've got around.

I decided long ago that USB floppies suck. This just reinforces it.

Carp just seems like a funny replacement for crap, which gets filtered out at some sites.

The only copy of Word 5.1 that sold recently on Ebay went for $30. Don't know where else you would find it nowadays.

How can I meet people to give me free Macs? People give me 486's and the like. Useful sometimes but hardly very interesting. I guess I should have paid my Macolyte dues all those years instead of letting them lapse.

I am reminded of Full Metal Jacket.

I want to meet interesting people, and kill them.

Or something like that.

Yes, that's it. I should buy that on DVD sometime. I think my next purchase will be Resevoir Dogs.

full metal jacket was a sweet movie!

i need to somehow get a copy of that....

it plain suck how bad war movies are now a days. black hawk down was fairly decent, but it wasn't really much of a war movie, instead just a huge show of hollywood technical wizardry, tons of money, soppy sentimental moments, and lots of gun battles.

If you can just suspend your disbelief and all you need are gun battles.

First: to be geeky, this is typed from OS 1015, and Chimera .5, pretty quick.

Are you having stability porblems with Chimera?

I was using .4 until I got really tired of all the crashing about a week ago. I just gave .5 a try with the same result. I miss the features of Chimera but Mozilla is stable. I need stability! Mad

Quite. There are other good things about Mozilla. I expected Mozilla to be much slower than Chimera, but M 1.1 is nearly as fast as C 0.5. There were also a lot of Mozilla features I missed in Chimera. Wish I could ditch mail/news/composer/chatzilla/etc. though. There is no perfect browser.

I won't lie. I like IE.

But if you want Mozilla without the crap, why not submit a suggestion to the Mozilla team? At the very least someone would read it.....

Or get on to their dev IRC channels (advertised on their site) and SPAM (Or SMAM) them into submission.

True. Smile

Other versions of the Moz installer (on other platforms, I mean) offer a choice of what to install. If there's not some way to remove them after the fact, I'd probably have to fall back on compiling it myself, which isn't worth the bother when new versions come out all the time.
