That article genuinely scares me. The other things that are scare me are some of the comments attached to the Ars MSH article not to mention the comments attached to the /. repost of it. Some people just refuse to evolve.... I mean I even saw one comment on /. telling me that use awk to grab content from piped input was better than the object oriented syntax that Microsoft has chosen to use.

Didn't you know? The only worthy way of doing things is one that's basically thity years old and involves grep and awk and all those other things with completely intuitive names and functionality.

WTF? The IT Organization of A worldwide company was relying upon a SINGLE DOMAIN CONTROLLER? How is it Microsoft's fault that the previous (and apparently current) Network Admin team is composed of retards? Then again at least the current Admin team made something work. Though hiring people who are obviously *nix admins to work on an NT/2k/2k3 network seems.... dumb.

JR, that doesn't surprise me in the least bit. I've consulted to a half-dozen companies now and the only common factor is incompetance (and the desire to blame all problems on the consultant).

Maybe they just didn't want to make any of the other servers even more jealous. It's tough to accept the fact that a co-server that clearly wasn't doing it's job was singled out for a promotion and you were not. Just ask that HP3000 we have back at work.... the poor bastard can barely hold himself together now that we are running mostly Windows 2003 on our servers.
