Why be surprised? All the mommies and daddies who bought packard bells and still run netscape 3.x are still here. It's just that as they upgrade, they'll get an XP system. 98 will be sigificant for a while, until everyone is bascially forced to upgrade.

I agree with this premise. I still know a few people still chugging away on their original Windows 95 machines at home. Unfortunately, I know of at least one business that was still using Windows 95 on their desktops as recently as 2000-2001... because the mothership^H^H^H^H company only validated their apps-for-daily-business to work on 95. Their main apps, as I recall, were Hummingbird Exceed and Procomm Plus. Rolling Eyes

What's up with Hummingbird? Other than this company, I have no experience with it.

Back in the early 90's one of my jobs was to install Hummingbird Exceed onto NT 3.51 workstations in the CAD lab. Gad, what a clusterfuck.

LPT1 dongle .. special codes for each machine ... and I found out later from some Engineering majors that the machines sat defunct for a whole semester because the Prof changed his mind!

Ugh.

I still get calls from Hummingbird asking me if I want to buy some of their software.

Hummingbird? Oh, you mean Whoringbitch? If I ever have to support their shit again, I'll know God's punishing me. Not unlike Novell.
